New 2012 NFL Mock Draft 3/12

Posted by James Rowe on March 12, 2012 – 4:40 pm in: 2012, NFL Draft

It’s all but official, Robert Griffin III will be a Redskin

1 Indianapolis Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford*

With Peyton Manning officially gone, Luck is now the 100% guaranteed 1st overall pick to the Colts and likely will get a deal done after his pro day.

2 Washington Redskins(f/STL)- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor*

The Redskins moved up to get RG3 on Friday, and Shanahan will now need to build this team without 1st round picks in the future.

3 Minnesota Vikings- Matt Kalil OT USC*

Kalil is the real deal franchise LT type prospect, and will give Minnesota a very good building piece to protect Ponder.

4 Cleveland Browns- Trent Richardson RB Alabama*

Mike Holmgren drafted Alabama RB Shaun Alexander in the 1st round while at Seattle, and Richardson could be a similar player for the Browns.

5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU*

Schiano used to be a DB coach and since the Bucs have a glaring need at CB, Claiborne should be a lock here as a potential shutdown type CB to replace Ronde Barber.

6 St. Louis Rams(f/WAS)- Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State*

St. Louis gained a ton of picks to build the team in the future, and start it off by giving Bradford a #1 WR with Blackmon here.

7 Jacksonville Jaguars- Quinton Coples DE UNC

The Jaguars could go in many directions with this pick, but if they stay DE should be the pick and Coples is the versatile type player they need on defense.

8 Miami Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M

I think Peyton will go to Arizona so it will be between Flynn and Tannehill for Miami, and Mike Sharman will reassure Philbin that Tannehill will be a better player down the line than Flynn.

9 Carolina Panthers- Dontari Poe DT/NT Memphis*

Ron Rivera will love bring in Poe to play in his defense, and Poe will thrive likely playing all dline positions in the 4-3 scheme.

10 Buffalo Bills- Courtney Upshaw DE/OLB Alabama

Buffalo has already said a pass rusher at DE is their #1 need, and I think they go with another Alabama prospect in Upshaw.

11 Kansas City Chiefs- Riley Reiff OT Iowa*

Pioli has stated the oline will be addressed this off season, and if they go through the draft Reiff could appeal as a potential starter right away at LT/RT.

12 Seattle Seahawks- Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College*

Pete Carrol loves his stud LB’s, and if he doesn’t resign Hawthorne Kuechly could easily become the pick.

13 Arizona Cardinals- David DeCastro OG Stanford*

If Peyton comes in expect Arizona to either draft oline or defense, and if they go oline DeCastro could be a great fit as a potential All Pro OG in his prime and can play right away.

14 Dallas Cowboys- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama*

The Cowboys really need secondary help, and I think Kirkpatrick by far has the most potential of any CB left after Claiborne.

15 Philadelphia Eagles- Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi State*

Missing out on Kuechly hurts, but Philly could go with a potential stud DT with Cox here to sure up the inside of the defense.

16 New York Jets- Melvin Ingram DE/OLB South Carolina

I think the Jets could try and move up for Poe, but if they stay here expect a pass rusher like Ingram to be drafted to give Rex Ryan’s defense more pressure on the QB.

17 Cincinnati Bengals(f/OAK)- Cordy Glenn OT/OG Georgia

Carl Nicks could be signed, but if they want to draft a olinemen the Bengals will likely target Glenn who has the size and play they like.

18 San Diego Chargers- Michael Brockers DT LSU**

Releasing Castillo makes DE a need once again for the Chargers, and Brockers seems like a logical fit.

19 Chicago Bears- Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame

A WR will be brought in for Cutler, and if one is draft Floyd could be a great fit as a big target to go with the smaller WR’s already on the roster.

20 Tennessee Titans- Whitney Mercilus DE/OLB Illinois*

Mercilus stock is on the rise after a strong combine, and the Titans could use a rotational DE like him to improve the defense.

21 Cincinnati Bengals- Mark Barron FS/SS Alabama

The Bengals won’t use both 1st’s on offense, and with Safety the top need Barron could be the best pick to replace Crocker.

22 Cleveland Browns(f/ATL)- Kendall Wright WR Baylor

WR is a big need for who ever the QB is for Cleveland, and Wright has already gotten attention from the Browns as a potential down the field threat for them.

23 Detroit Lions- Jonathan Martin OT Stanford*

Stafford can win a Super Bowl in Detroit if he stays healthy, and they could go with Martin here to possibly play LT for a long time.

24 Pittsburgh Steelers- Dont’a Hightower ILB Alabama*

Timmons is the only ILB left that can make a difference, and Hightower just seems like a Steelers type defensive player that can lay some big hits.

25 Denver Broncos- Devin Still DT Penn State
Denver’s top need has to be DT, and Still was arguably the best DT in College Football in 2011.

26 Houston Texans- Stephen Hill WR Georgia Tech*

The Texans will get another receiving threat across from Andre Johnson, and Hill has really been on the rise after an elite combine workout.

27 New England Patriots(f/NO)- Janoris Jenkins CB Northern Alabama

Jenkins seems like a great fit as a Asante Samuel/Ellis Hobbs type CB in Belichick’s defense, and they should straighten him up.

28 Green Bay Packers- Nick Perry DE/OLB USC*

Huge steal for the Packers getting another stud USC pass rusher in Perry, and they likely will see a huge jump in better defensive play.

29 Baltimore Ravens- Peter Konz C Wisconsin*

I think Baltimore finds another starting caliber LT in F/A, and draft Konz here to sure up the interior oline.

30 San Francisco 49ers- Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina*

The 49ers need a big WR and if they don’t sign Vincent Jackson, Jeffery can be possible pick as a late 1st.

31 New England Patriots- Andre Branch DE/OLB Clemson

Branch has the size and skills to play to the Patriots defense, and can be a very good fit right away to give them improved pass rush from the outside.

32 New York Giants- Mike Adams OT Ohio State

Eli is a top 5 QB in the NFL, and if the Giants want to keep him healthy upgrading at either LT/RT with Adams here could make a ton of sense.

 Round 2

33 St. Louis Rams- Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State*

34 Indianapolis Colts- Kevin Zeitler OG Wisconsin

35 Minnesota Vikings- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina*

36 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers*

37 Cleveland Browns- Vinny Curry DE/OLB Marshall

38 Jacksonville Jaguars- Rueben Randle WR LSU*

39 St. Louis Rams(f/WAS)- Lamar Miller RB Miami**

40 Carolina Panthers- Zach Brown OLB UNC

41 Buffalo Bills- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida State

42 Miami Dolphins- Chandler Jones DE/OLB Syracuse*

43 Seattle Seahawks- Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State

44 Kansas City Chiefs- Alameda Ta’amu DT/NT Washington

45 Dallas Cowboys- Brandon Washington OG Miami*

46 Philadelphia Eagles- Lavonte David OLB Nebraska

47 New York Jets- David Wilson RB Virginia Tech*

48 New England Patriots(f/OAK)- Kendall Reyes DT UCONN

49 San Diego Chargers- Ronnell Lewis DE/OLB Oklahoma*

50 Chicago Bears- Coby Fleener TE Stanford

51 Philadelphia Eagles(f/ARI)- Harrison Smith FS/SS Notre Dame

52 Tennessee Titans- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska

53 Cincinnati Bengals- Doug Martin RB Boise State

54 Detroit Lions- Trumaine Johnson CB Montana

55 Atlanta Falcons- Jonathan Massaquoi DE/OLB Troy*

56 Pittsburgh Steelers- Brandon Boykin CB Georgia

57 Denver Broncos- LaMichael James RB Oregon*

58 Houston Texans- Shea McClellin DE/OLB Boise State

59 New Orleans Saints- Brandon Thompson DT Clemson

60 Green Bay Packers- Josh Robinson CB Central Florida*

61 Baltimore Ravens- Audie Cole ILB North Carolina State

62 San Francisco 49ers- Amini Silatolu OG Midwestern State

63 New England Patriots- Ben Jones C Georgia

64 New York Giants- Orson Charles TE Georgia*
