Post NFL Combine 2012 Mock Draft 2/28

Posted by James Rowe on February 28, 2012 – 6:39 pm in: 2012, NFL Draft

It’s all but offical, Luck and RG3 will go #1 and 2 in the 2012 NFL Draft

Round 1

1 Indianapolis Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford*

Luck looked terrific on the field at the combine, and showed not only is he a great QB prospect, but is also a very good athlete.

2 Washington Redskins(f/STL)- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor*

RG3 lived up to the hype last weekend, and will be picked here at #2, and I think the Redskins will give up a 2012 1st, 2nd and 2013 1st and 4th to get RG3 in D.C.

3 Minnesota Vikings- Matt Kalil OT USC*

This offense is in need of a franchise LT to open holes for AP when he comes back and protect Ponder, and Kalil is the best LT prospect since Jake Long in 2008.

4 Cleveland Browns- Trent Richardson RB Alabama*

The Browns won’t pull the trigger to get RG3, and will instead replace Hillis with Richardson who fit’s the physical style of player needed at RB in the AFC North.

5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU*

Schiano is a former DB assistant that would love to bring in Claiborne to replace Ronde Barber and team up with Aqib Talib to slow down the great pass offenses in the NFC South.

6 St. Louis Rams(f/WAS)- Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State*

The Rams end up with Blackmon here to give Bradford a legit #1 target, and Blackmon should be a Hakeem Nicks type NFL player.

7 Jacksonville Jaguars- Quinton Coples DE UNC

With Blackmon and Claiborne gone, the Jags might try to trade down or go with Coples to finally give them a Pro Bowl type talent at DE.

8 Carolina Panthers- Dontari Poe DT/NT Memphis*

Poe looked amazing on the field at the combine and after bringing in your franchise player on offense with Cam Newton, Poe could be built around on defense.

9 Miami Dolphins- Riley Reiff OT Iowa*

Joe Philbin will bring in a QB(Matt Flynn?) this off season, and with Jake Long suffering a pretty serious injury last year Reiff could be drafted to play right away at either LT/RT.

10 Buffalo Bills- Courtney Upshaw DE/OLB Alabama

The Bills have said a pass rushing DE is their top need, and Upshaw looks to be more a 4-3 DE now after the combine and could pair with former ‘Bama player Marcel Dareus.

11 Kansas City Chiefs- David DeCastro OG Stanford*

Kansas City has also made it public of their top needs, and helping the oline is at the top so DeCastro here to be an All Pro type LG/RG in the NFL should be the pick.

12 Seattle Seahawks- Michael Brockers DT LSU**

Pete Carrol needs a QB but Tannehill is a reach IMO, so adding a very high potential DT like Brockers could be the next option for the team to do.

13 Arizona Cardinals- Melvin Ingram DE/OLB South Carolina

If Peyton is brought in expect Arizona to try and draft impact players, and Ingram can be a dynamic pass rusher from all over for this defense.

14 Dallas Cowboys- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama*

Jerry Jones knows the secondary is a mess right now in Dallas, and Kirkpatrick ran a 4.4 40 at 6’2 which will make him a possible pick for the Cowboys.

15 Philadelphia Eagles- Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College*

Kuechly looked great at the combine and is easily the top true LB in the draft, and would fit perfectly with the Eagles need for a LB to improve this poor defense.

16 New York Jets- Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame

Plaxico Burress didn’t workout for the Jets, and Floyd has awesome size, body control and enough speed to be a potential Pro Bowler to help Sanchez progress.

17 Cincinnati Bengals(f/OAK)- Cordy Glenn OT/OG Georgia

Help at Guard is needed in Cincinnati, and Glenn can easily play right away for this young team and even move outside if needed in the future.

18 San Diego Chargers- Nick Perry DE/OLB USC*

Perry looked fantastic moving around at the combine, and the Chargers could really use a pass rusher to get this defense back to par.

19 Chicago Bears- Kendall Wright WR Baylor
Jay Cutler needs a legit WR to throw to down the field, and Wright fit’s the need perfectly after his stock dropped after a bad 40 time.

20 Tennessee Titans- Whitney Mercilus DE Illinois*

Mercilus is a hard prospect to get a feel for since he’s a 1 year wonder, but would help the Titans DE rotation a lot if he doesn’t bust.

21 Cincinnati Bengals- Lamar Miller RB Miami**

Benson’s future is still unknown with the Bengals, but I think it is obvious they will draft a RB early so Miller could make sense since he would bring homerun speed to this offense.

22 Cleveland Browns(f/ATL)- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M

The Browns settle with Tannehill to compete with McCoy at QB, and will likely look to add a WR in F/A.

23 Detroit Lions- Janoris Jenkins CB Northern Alabama

Jenkins fit’s the questionable character’s the Lions have drafted recently, and also fit’s a big need for them at CB.

24 Pittsburgh Steelers- Mike Adams OT Ohio State

The Steelers must protect Big Ben better if they want to keep being contenders for the future, and adding Adams to finally solidify the LT/RT position will help in that effort.

25 Denver Broncos- Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi State*

Cox is a rising prospects that is great value for Denver here, and would be great in this attacking defense.

26 Houston Texans- Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina*

Other than Andre Johnson and Arian Foster the Texans don’t have any real receiving playmakers, and Jeffery could maybe put this team over the top.

27 New England Patriots(f/NO)- Mark Barron FS/SS Alabama

Belichick adds a versatile DB in Barron to help the pass defense, and give them more talent overall on defense as well.

28 Green Bay Packers- Devin Still DT Penn State

Losing Cullen Jenkins hurt the Green Bay defense, and Still could fit Cullen’s position as a pass rushing DT.

29 Baltimore Ravens- Jonathan Martin OT Stanford*

Michael Oher looks to be a RT now and with Bryant McKinnie being easy to replace, Martin could be brought in to play right at LT.

30 San Francisco 49ers- Kevin Zeitler OG Wisconsin

The 49ers really need a true starter at RG to improve the oline play, and Zeitler is a run blocking RG that will really make them happy.

31 New England Patriots- Peter Konz C Wisconsin*

The Patriots can’t pass on a potential multiple time Pro Bowler at Center with Konz, and he might be the final piece to their youth movement on the oline.

32 New York Giants- Zach Brown OLB UNC

I love the Giants attacking defense, and adding a sideline to sideline LB like Brown to potentially help the pass and run defense could be a good pick.

Round 2

33 St. Louis Rams- David Wilson RB Virginia Tech*

34 Indianapolis Colts- Vinny Curry DE/OLB Marshall

35 Minnesota Vikings- Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State*

36 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers*

37 Cleveland Browns- Andre Branch DE/OLB Clemson

38 Jacksonville Jaguars- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina*

39 St. Louis Rams(f/WAS)- Kendall Reyes DT UCONN

40 Carolina Panthers- Dont’a Hightower ILB Alabama*

41 Buffalo Bills- Coby Fleener TE Stanford

42 Miami Dolphins- Bruce Irvin OLB West Virginia

43 Seattle Seahawks- Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State

44 Kansas City Chiefs- Alameda Ta’amu DT/NT Washington

45 Dallas Cowboys- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida State

46 Philadelphia Eagles- Orson Charles TE Georgia*

47 New York Jets- Doug Martin RB Boise State

48 New England Patriots(f/NO)- Ronnell Lewis DE/OLB Oklahoma*

49 San Diego Chargers- Rueben Randle WR LSU*

50 Chicago Bears- Trumaine Johnson CB Montana

51 Philadelphia Eagles(f/ARI)- Brandon Thompson DT Clemson

52 Tennessee Titans- Stephen Hill WR Georgia Tech*

53 Cincinnati Bengals- Markelle Martin FS/CB Oklahoma State

54 Detroit Lions- Vontaze Burfict ILB Arizona State*

55 Atlanta Falcons- Jonathan Massaquoi DE/OLB Troy*

56 Pittsburgh Steelers- Jared Crick DT Nebraska

57 Denver Broncos- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska

58 Houston Texans- Harrison Smith FS/SS Notre Dame

59 New Orleans Saints- Brandon Washington OG Miami*

60 Green Bay Packers- LaMichael James RB Oregon*

61 Baltimore Ravens- Audie Cole ILB North Carolina State

62 San Francisco 49ers- Chase Minnifield CB Virginia

63 New England Patriots- Billy Winn DT Boise State

64 New York Giants- Kelechi Osemele OT/OG Iowa State
